● When David knew that he was the successor, David remained humble and God put him in the right position.
● God has already placed David in a position knowing that God has already prepared him.
● David refused the armor that was given to him knowing that all he needed was God. He understood that he could trust God and without Saul’s armor, he would need to step out on faith.
● Those in David’s home begin to discourage him, and there are times in our own lives that we have people in our inner circle that will also discourage us; we must know that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
● We have a lot of Goliaths in our present day
○ Alcohol, Lying, Suicide, Drugs, Depression, Greed, in all SIN is our Goliath.
○ During our current pandemic, education may be the biggest Goliath that young people are facing today.
○ Goliath is like sin in our lives or hardships that we have to defeat.
4 Battle Strategies
Giant slayers do not tolerate the giant. 1 Samuel 17: 23-24
Giant slayers do not listen to naysayers.
Giant slayers focus on God, not giants. Psalm 121: 1-2; Psalm 20:7
To be strong in the Lord and His mighty power. Ephesians 4:10

● God let us know and understand that with every gift comes the perfect Lord.
● God always equips the man for the job.
● Even if we may not look the part, God will make us fit the part.
